A pedestrian was killed Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in Compton that injured one other person, and published reports have named rap mogul Suge Knight as the driver.

The crash at Tam’s Burgers in the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue, near Central Avenue, was reported at 2:55 p.m., said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A man was killed and a second person was injured and taken to a hospital, she said.

The injured person’s condition was not immediately available, Schrader said.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Knight had been arguing with two men on the set of “Straight Out of Compton,” a biopic of the Compton rap group N.W.A.

LASD Detective Lt. John Corina told The Times Knight followed the men to a fast food outlet 20 minutes later and ran them over in its parking lot.

Corina said witnesses described the truck hitting the men, then reversing over them.

Corina told The Times the deceased victim was 55, and the other victim was 51. One victim was a member of the film crew, Corina said.

Sheriff’s officials at the scene had previously described Knight as a person of interest in the case.

The red pickup truck was found in a parking lot in Westwood.

Knight’s attorney confirmed that the Death Row records founder was driving the vehicle and was negotiating his surrender to the sheriff’s department, according to broadcast reports.

Knight is awaiting trial on a robbery charge stemming from the alleged theft of a camera from a paparazzo in Beverly Hills in September. He is charged in that case along with comedian Micah “Katt” Williams.
