The Cosmo filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the agency that helps clear the way for filming in Los Angeles, claiming the 1920s-themed Hollywood supper club had to shut down for two days because of insufficient warning that filming would take place for a television show featuring Wesley Snipes.
The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against FilmLA Inc. alleges private nuisance and negligence. “Endgame” producer Topanga Productions Inc. is also named in the complaint, which seeks unspecified damages.
A representative for FilmLA did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The suit states that the club’s management was notified about 10 p.m. March 30 by FilmLA that Topanga Productions would film “Endgame” in the 6300 block of Hollywood Boulevard on April 1-2.
“Indeed, said filming would occur directly outside the Cosmo nightclub,” the suit states.
Cosmo management protested to FilmLA that the late announcement would negatively impact business, and the agency admitted the club “had not received advance notice of the filming,” according to the suit.
FilmLA paid a $3,000 “inconvenience fee” to a neighboring business, but nothing similar was offered to Cosmo, the suit alleges.
