The Chicago-based band Wilco has a history of backing social causes and charities. Now they’re sharing their latest album free.
You can download “Star Wars,” with 11 original songs, for $0.00 via Wilcoworld, iTunes, Amazon and Google Play and streaming on Spotify.
“Consider it a gift from Wilco, or as [singer] Jeff [Tweedy] calls it, ‘a jolt of joy: a fun surprise,’” the six-member group says. “Digital downloads remain free until August 13.”
The album also is available on vinyl and CD — for a cost on the Wilco store.
CD release date is Aug. 21, and vinyl Nov. 27.
Wilco’s next Los Angeles appearance is Aug. 5 at the Greek Theatre.
