Considered to be the biggest British pop group since the Beatles, One Direction looks as though they are about to split up.

Or are they?

The heartthrobs — Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan — just announced that they are taking a one-year hiatus from music to go solo, without even touring for their upcoming fifth album, which will be released later this year.

However, the good news for the millions of fans worldwide is that the move is said to be temporary.

Fans across the globe have been busy on Twitter expressing their relief, concern, grief and worry about whether they are breaking up or simply taking a break.

Only time will tell.
