Some fans are boasting they’ve seen “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” twice already, posting comments like “(director JJ) Abrams knocked this outta the park!” But critics are emerging as well.

“What started out as a promising movie left me with a bitterness only the Dark Side could understand,” posted superfan Kristmas Golojuch of San Diego.”I didn’t mind the new characters (Rebellion side ONLY) as some out there do, BUT I do have a problem with what was done with familiar faces.
“This film doesn’t work for a standalone viewer or a person completely new to the series, so if you’re not familiar with the material or any of the returning characters’ relationships to one another — you will be left slightly confused and spending a lot of time trying to sort and figure it all out. And while you are doing that, you might miss some things.
Golojuch (pronounced Go-LOW-you) called it “definitely a serial sequel with a huge cliffhanger” but said it’s nearly impossible to vent frustrations publicly without giving spoilers away.
“I would never tell anyone NOT to see it, because in reality, just about everyone will anyway. But you should go see The Force Awakens in the next couple of days. I have a very bad feeling about this — spoilers will start popping up all over the galaxy. It’s inevitable.”
A Facebook page devoted to the “Star Wars” series saw critics and fans mixing it up, with comments such as:
- I honestly loved the film. I really don’t understand why it’s getting so much hate. Those of you who hated the movie, what about it didn’t you like? What would you have done differently if you were in Abrams shoes?
- Seen it last night, best movie I’ve ever seen hands down!
- Disappointed… It is Episode IV twisted…
- Hardly original storytelling. If ep. 8 is a reboot of ESB we riot! Shame on you JJ. Tell Daisy to practice her non British accent. Can’t even understand her half the time.
- It was phenomenal! Totally holds its own and maintains the quality established by the original films
- Why do the scees with the sithlord remind me of Dorothy and the All mighty Wizard from Wizard of Oz?
- Well, when the episode VII will come out?
- Loved it, The Force is back!!!!
- Loved it, can’t wait for Ep. VIII!
- Garbage… story died when Lucas quit
