Hollywood has nothing to fear from Elon Musk — at least in video production values. But the SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO knows how to put on an electric-car Christmas light show.

Performing to the ubiquitous “Wizards in Winter” music by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, three Model X Tesla SUVs flash lights and open doors to the delight of YouTube visitors.

Reactions to the video, apparently a second one replacing an earlier version:

  • “So this is what is holding up deliveries?”
  • “They need to put this as an option on the touchscreen. Imagine going down the high way at 80 miles an hour. X-mas mode, ON”
  • “Please make this an Easter Egg on the Model X. if 3 ever meet in a car park, and they are all unlocked at the same time maybe? then they start to play music and perform!”

TechInsider.com noted:

“Tesla doesn’t spend money on ads, but that doesn’t mean the company won’t share a short promotional video or two, especially around the holidays. … As the music plays, the headlights flash to the music, but after about a minute the performance gets a little more interesting with the Falcon Wing doors opening and closing to the beat of the song.

“Considering 2015 was all about getting the Model X into production for Tesla, the video is a fitting way to close out the year and showcase the car’s most impressive feature: its Falcon doors, which allow for seamless access in and out of the vehicle.”
