The animated sequel “Kung Fu Panda 3” led the way at the box office over a somewhat lackluster Super Bowl weekend at theaters, far outpacing the Coen brothers’ ensemble comedy, “Hail Caesar!,” according to final figures released Monday.
“Hail Caesar!” debuted in a distant second with $11.4 million, followed by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with $7 million, pushing its eight- week domestic total to $906 million.
Oscar hopeful “The Revenant” placed fourth with $6.9 million, while “The Choice” opened in fifth place with $6 million.
Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” ($5.3 million); “The Finest Hours” ($4.8 million); “Ride Along 2” ($4.6 million); “The Boy” ($4.1 million); and “Dirty Grandpa” ($4 million).
