Kanye West — the rapping reality show — ranted off-camera during “Saturday Night Live” — making crude jabs at his fellow superstar Taylor Swift. But was it heard by SNL staff or just his posse?

PageSix.com posted an obscenity-filled audio of the West episode and quoted him as ripping Swift as a “fake ass.”

“Kanye can be heard repeatedly yelling at ‘SNL’ production staff, “Don’t f–k with me,” th site said. “Then the hotheaded rapper went on to proclaim that he is ’50 percent more influential’ than legendary filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, Pablo Picasso, St. Paul the Apostle … and even the notorious drug runner Pablo Escobar.”

But another site noted a twist in the tirade.

Complex.com reported Wednesday night that a source close to Kanye’s camp says th backstage audio was taken out of context.

“He did NOT yell at SNL staff,” the source was quoted as saying. “This audio was secretly recorded while he was venting his frustration in a private moment with his team.”

Complex said: “The source adds that the set changes occurred 30 minutes before his performance and that he was completely blindsided by it. Even with the changes, the rapper was in good spirits.”

Amusement was had by all:
