Eleven days after his death at 71, Charlie Tuna was a trending topic Tuesday on Facebook as fans of the radio legend expressed their love and grief on social media.

The family asked that donations be made in his name to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. His fans recalled his year in radio, especially Los Angeles starting in 1967 at KHJ and later KROQ.
He also worked at KRLA, KODJ and KLAC, then hosted the “Charlie Tuna in the Morning” program on KBIG until 2007. After that station changed format, he moved to K-Earth 101, where he stayed until 2015, when he focused on a syndication business.
