NASA’s Scott Kelly landed safely Tuesday in Kazakhstan along with two Cosmonauts riding the Soyuz TMA-18M space capsule. Thus ended 340 days in space — and Kelly becoming a social-media superstar.

NASA even displayed his greatest tweets, Instagrams and other messages from the International Space Station.

The Boston Globe devoted a long story to Kelly’s social media stardom.

“Before Kelly left, he appeared at the 2015 State of the Union address, where President Obama personally asked him to ‘make sure to Instagram’ his trip,” the Globe noted. “To say he’s delivered is a bit of an understatement: Kelly posted about 750 images while in space for 340 days. He spearheaded the hashtags #YearInSpace and #EarthArt, and helped promote NASA’s campaign #WhySpaceMatters.

“He sent a #GoodnightFromSpace photo nearly every night, showed us the flowers he grew aboard the International Space Station, commented on weather patterns, posted what our cities look like from space, and sent video of himself in a gorilla suit chasing a fellow astronaut.”

In short, the paper said: The 52-year-old astronaut was more active on social media than many people who actually reside on Earth.
