An Iowa farmer failed to find love in the big city as a star of TV’s “The Bachelor,” but he has ended a subsequent legal battle with a dating site for farmers that indicated the site could have found him a better match with a country girl from Iowa.
Chris Soules, 34, who starred in the 19th season of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” reached a settlement with the FarmersOnly.com relationship website, which he claimed used his image without permission.
Soules filed the lawsuit Jan. 26 in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging misappropriation of his right of publicity. His attorney filed court papers April 22 stating the case was resolved, but no terms were divulged.
According to the complaint, the defendants created a commercial using a description of his appearance on the show and his story of how his relationship with a woman from Chicago did not work out.
The commercial stated that had Soules gone to FarmersOnly.com, he could have found a country girl who would have been a better fit for a boy from Iowa like him, according to the plaintiff.
Although the website used a blacked-out photo of a person instead of an actual picture of Soules, an infringement still occurred, his suit alleged.
