NBC announced it has ordered two comedies for the 2016-17 season — “Powerless,” the first comedy set in the universe of DC Comics, and “Trial & Error,” about a New York lawyer (Nicholas D’Agosto) who heads to a small southern town for his first big case.
“Powerless” stars “High School Musical” alumna Vanessa Hudgens as what the network describes as “a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes” who becomes a hero to her quirky co-workers when she stands up to a superhero.
The cast also includes Danny Pudi, best known for his portrayal of Abed on the 2009-2014 NBC comedy “Community.”
The cast of “Trial & Error” includes five-time Emmy-winner John Lithgow, who plays an eccentric poetry professor accused of the bizarre murder of his beloved wife.
NBC is expected to announce its fully programming plans for the 2016-17 season on Sunday.
