An investigation was underway Tuesday into an arson attempt on the Kardashian sisters’ DASH clothing boutique in West Hollywood.
A passerby at 11:30 p.m. Monday reported seeing a man throw a lit object toward the store at 8420 Melrose Ave., breaking the front window, said Lt. Vance Duffy of the sheriff’s West Hollywood Station.
Deputies and county firefighters arrived within minutes, saw the broken window and spotted a “smoldering object” inside the store, according to the sheriff’s department.
Firefighters “determined that an attempt arson had occurred,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “The arson device failed to ignite any items inside the store. Damage to the property was limited to a shattered window and damaged floor tiles.”
Sheriff’s Lt. Edward Ramirez said the object hurled into the store was heavy and wrapped in fabric.
The Los Angeles County Arson/Explosives Detail was investigating and asked anyone with information on the case to call its investigators at (323) 881-7500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
