San Jose’s Joey Chestnut upped his Nathan’s Famous hot-dog eating record Monday without up-chucking — downing 70 franks and buns at the annual July 4 contest in Coney Island.

But Chestnut set a world record last month when he ate 73 1/2 hot dogs and buns during a qualifying event, officials said.
As NBC New York reported: “As he gripped the mustard-colored belt after his win Monday afternoon, Chestunt said [Matt] Stonie had ‘woke up the sleeping giant’ when he beat him out last year.”
“Last year was rough,” Chestnut said. “This year was the best ever.”
