Filipino boss is a beaut: No Steve Harvey at Miss Universe

Remember how Steve Harvey crowned the wrong woman as Miss Universe? The president of the Philippines won’t let you forget.

On Thursday, the nation’s tourism secretary said President Rodrigo Duterte is still upset that Miss Colombia was announced as winner last December instead of the the Philippines’ Pia Wurtzbach.

CNN Philippines quoted Duterte as saying of Harvey: “He cannot host. I am going to talk to the Miss Universe that he cannot host, so that is my problem. I don’t want him to be the host of the Miss Universe.”

Why is the new president getting involved?

The 2016 Miss Universe pageant will be held in his country in four months, with the coronation set for Jan. 30, 2017, at SM Mall of Asia.

But things could be worse.

Donald Trump owned the Miss Universe pageant for almost 20 years — until last year. A showdown over Harvey (who has a five-year contract to host the affair) would not have been pretty.

But the reigning queen is OK with Harvey.
