Five films, including one tracking the rise and fall of O.J. Simpson, were nominated Tuesday for the Producers Guild of America award for documentary theatrical motion pictures.

The honor will be presented as part of the 28th annual PGA Awards ceremony Jan. 28 at the Beverly Hilton.

Nominated for the prize were:

— “Dancer,” which follows the career of Ukrainian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin, detailing his personal struggles as his career skyrockets;

— “The Eagle Huntress,” the story of a 13-year-old girl training to become the first female in 12 generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter;

— “Life, Animated,” the story of a young, autistic man who hones his reading and communication skills with the help of Disney movies;

— “O.J.: Made in America,” the ESPN production on Simpson’s rise to football fame and ultimate downfall; and

— “Tower,” the story of the 1966 mass shooting at the University of Texas that left 16 people dead and more than three dozen others wounded.

PGA nominations for television and digital categories will be announced Jan. 5. Theatrical nominations will be announced Jan. 10.
