“Sometimes it’s tough to date when you’re a Trump supporter, so we’re making it easier to find each other, who are like-minded and have the same political views.”
Those are the words of the founder of Trumpsingles.com, a site for those who believe Donald is making America great again.
A week after New Hampshire’s presidential primary 11 months ago, two dating sites were registered the same day — one for Donald Trump fans, a second for Hillary Clinton faithful.
One was named TrumpSingles.com, the other HillarySingles.com.
Guess which one is getting all the attention.
The New York Daily News is the latest to feature the Trump site.
“Founder David Goss of California thought of the idea after hearing of a similar site for Democrats,” said the paper. “He also learned his Republican friends were having a hard time on dates once politics were brought up — especially when it came to Donald Trump.”
Santa Clarita’s Goss, 35, told The News: “If people are being demonized for their views and having a hard time on their dates, we wanted to take that whole part of it out.”
The site, with membership of $19.95 a month, had more than 23,000 members Tuesday after its June launch, said the Daily News.
“It’s been something that we weren’t expecting,” Goss was quoted as saying. “We’re glad to have a service that is actually helping people.”
However, those numbers have been challenged. Newsweek found many it called fake users, possibly “an invasion of spambots.”
Tuesday afternoon, Goss told MyNewsLA.com that security measures were in place to prevent bots from joining, and the site has an approval process to “make sure our users are on the up and up.”
“We are Trump related,” he said, “so of course there are gonna be a negative article or two out there.”
Another mystery remained: How did HillarySingles.com come to be registered the same day as TrumpSingles.com — Feb. 17, 2016?
Goss said he had no idea who registered HillarySingles.com.
“Obviously at this point it doesn’t matter, since Clinton’s political careers are dead in the water,” Goss said via email. “I registered Trumpsingles.com around the same time that Berniesingles.com came out so I’m sure the Bernie people and I weren’t the only ones with this idea, and someone was hoping to make a site of their own.”
Goss noted no content at Hillarysingles.com, and “it looks like someone wasted their money on a domain name.”
Meanwhile, Sanders lovers, you have your own dating site to embrace. Its revival is “coming soon,” the homepage says. Creation date? Feb. 6, 2016.
