“She’s the one I want to win for.”
That’s what New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said of his mother during an interview with Jim Gray of Westwood One prior to Super Bowl 51.
The 39-year-old QB certainly didn’t disappoint. During Sunday’s big game, the Pats mounted a remarkable come-from-behind victory over the Falcons 34-28 in overtime.
The win was perhaps bittersweet. Brady disclosed earlier that his mother, Galynn, has been sick for months with an undisclosed illness.
In a pregame Instagram moment, Brady and his father, Tom Sr., were captured sandwiching Galynn on the field with kisses.

Immediately following the frantic on-field post-game jubilation, Brady was brief but professional with a Fox reporter and said he was anxious to see his family.
Indeed, Brady’s wife, Gisele Bündchen, and their children were at the game to witness him become the winningest Super Bowl quarterback in NFL history and to receive the game’s Most Valuable Player award.
Dad was there too … along with mom.
