At the Oscars, host Jimmy Kimmel cited David Letterman as his inspiration. Letterman would love how Kimmel brought in tour-bus riders for a gawkfest Sunday.

The instant star was Gary Alan Cole — aka #GaryFromChicago — who carried his bride-to-be’s purse and took selfies with several front-row celebs, including Denzel Washington, who fake-married them.

Now the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Cole will get a second bite of TV stardom — Monday night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

“The couple, identified during the Oscars as Gary Cole and Vicki (or Vicky) Mines, were among a busload of Hollywood tourists to be surprised by Oscars telecast host Kimmel on Sunday night by having their tour bus ‘hijacked’ and rerouted to the Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre,” the paper said.

But the Chicago Sun-Times said it’s been unable to reach them to confirm whether they live in the city or the suburbs — or obtain other details about them.

Even so, the Chicago Bulls via Twitter offered Cole free tickets to a game.

And Cole was a slam dunk with social media.
