Former Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross is still alive on “Dancing With the Stars” thanks to rain delays and a flood of support from Cubbie Nation.

Ross also lost a dance-off to far superior NFL star Rashad Jennings and his partner, Emma Slater.
“On ‘Movie Night,’ [Ross] performed a salsa routine set to a sci-fi theme. As even Ross himself admitted, it wasn’t an ideal pairing. In fact, he even compared it to a bad Mexican dish you might regret shortly after eating,” said cubbiescrib.com.
But Cubs fans wouldn’t let the World Series star strike out.
It was April 11 — during a rain delay of a Cubs game — that the team first showed Ross dance live on the big screen, thus giving him a leg up in the vote-from-home competition. It happened again Monday night.
“Perhaps it was the power of #CubsTwitter. Maybe some other power we don’t know of,” said Dan Gartland of Sports Illustrated. “If you ask me, though, only one thing could deliver such a big win [to Ross]: the rain delay gods.”
Ross could have been a Dodger, by the way, as Wikipedia notes: “Ross was originally drafted in the 19th round of the 1995 amateur draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but did not sign and instead accepted a scholarship to attend Auburn University.”
