So much for a woman playing the next James Bond (Jane Bond?).
Now it’s widely reported that Daniel Craig will be back for his fifth Bond movie (currently titled “Bond 25” for the number of editions).
“The actor will be 51 when the film comes out — a grand age for an action hero, but younger than both Sir Roger Moore and Sir Sean Connery when they made their final outings as 007 (they were 57 and 53 respectively),” said The Independent.
It wasn’t long ago that Craig was asked if he’d ever do another Bond film and he replied: ““I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists.”
But the rugged actor further said: “If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”
So Bingo! We have a returning Bond.
But it’s not too early to speculate beyond November 2019, when the next Bond thriller goes to theaters. Who should succeed Craig?
“The rumour mill has been non-stop since Spectre was released last year,” said the Independent. “Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Damien Lewis — if you’re a working actor, you can bet your name has been thrown in the ring at some stage or another.
“An unlikely person stepped forward … making it known on Twitter that they’d be up for playing ‘Jane’ Bond should they be asked. That person was The X-Files actor Gillian Anderson.”
