Hollywood’s dismal summer whimpered to an end this weekend, with a movie in its third week of showing in the number one spot.

“The Hitman’s Bodyguard” was estimated to deal $10.3 million in tickets in the first three days of the holiday weekend. It has grossed $54.9 million over two weeks plus this weekend.

“A rather slow, but actually better-than-anticipated Labor Day weekend,” pronounced movie analyst Paul Degarabedian at comScore.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular movies this week, as estimated by the studios, were “Annabelle: Creation” ($7.3 million), “Wind River” ($5.9 million), “Leap!” ($4.9 million), “Logan Lucky” ($4.4 million), “Dunkirk” ($4.1 million), “Spider-Man: Homecoming” ($3.7 million), “The Emoji Movie” ($2.5 million), “Despicable Me 3” ($2.4 million) and “Girls Trip” ($2.3 million).
