One middle-age man said he took a train from Los Angeles just to see one act Saturday at KAABOO Del Mar — Jane’s Addiction.
The Los Angeles band didn’t disappoint. Nor did its scantily clad stage girls, including the wife of lead singer Perry Farrell, and a suspended meathook that elevated the backup beauties.
The L.A. visitor took in the 5 o’clock show at the upscale music/art/comedy fest — and also planned to see P!nk, who also drew raves at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
“@Pink By far THE best performance this girl has ever seen,” said a Twitter user named @kbonbrake. “You killed it.”
P!nk, the 38-year-old Grammy winner, was quoted as saying: “I love you. I wanna get married again … to you @Pink says as she gestures to is prob her husband.”
Separately, Brittay Woolsey tweeted: “Some dude is about to propose to his girl during @Pink set.”
Social media revealed it was Los Angeles stuntman Remi Bakkar who proposed to his girlfriend Lyndrel Ann Palm, a San Diego native whose Instagram account describes her as an actress, makeup artist and UCSD alumna.
But online critics panned the late arrival of Muse and faulted the audio crew during the Jane’s Addiction set.
“Fix sound at [Grandview stage],” tweeted Julie McCleery. “Can’t hear jane’s addiction.”
Muse was said to be about 15 minutes late. But the British band was worth it to Dan Noon, who tweeted a photo with the caption: “@Muse is, by far, the best band I’ve seen this weekend.”
KAABOO wraps up Sunday, with featured acts including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Jason Derulo, Alanis Morisette, Andy Grammer, Jackson Browne and comedian David Spade.
