Sorry, Danica Patrick. You’re no longer the most famous Danica in America. The Virginia one has left you in her political exhaust.
By winning a seat in her state’s House of Delegates, transgender musician and journalist Danica Roem has shifted the nation’s gears.
The 33-year-old Democrat has already inspired cries of “Danica Roem 2020” (but The Washington Post’s Fenit Nirappil says: “She has said she has no interest in higher office, and is genuinely passionate about the wonky business that local delegates deal with.”
Hard-rockers also sung her praises.
“Danica Roem has become the first openly transgender state official in American history… and she’s a metalhead!” said loudwire.com. “Roem is the vocalist for Cab Ride Home, a Virginia-based band that call themselves ‘drunken thrash metal.’”
Nirappil told Chris Cillizza: “Outside of work, Roem plays in a melodic death metal band and had some off-color music videos that Republicans tried to say made her out of touch with the district’s suburban sensibilities.”
