Danica Patrick announced last month she would end her auto-racing career in 2018 after the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500. On Monday, she also pumped the brakes on her romance with Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

ESPN.com was among many sites to report on one of NASCAR’s power couples: They “have split after dating for about five years, having started seeing each other shortly before they entered their NASCAR Cup Series rookie seasons in 2013.”

A spokeswoman for Patrick confirmed that the athletes are “no longer in a relationship.”

Neither Patrick, 35, nor Stenhouse Jr., 30, have publicly commented on the split, People magazine said.

It was April 1, with a kissing picture on Instagram, that Patrick hinted she was engaged with Stenhouse. (Later denied.)

ESPN said: “Patrick is 35; Stenhouse is 30. In a recent documentary directed by ESPN’s Hannah Storm, Patrick revealed she had some eggs frozen a couple of years ago, and that she wanted kids but wanted to be married first.”
