It hasn’t been 24 hours since Lady Gaga announced she’s moving to Las Vegas a year from now to perform about once every two weeks for two years.
But some fans are reacting as if it’s a sign of her dotage — retiring to Sin City as a washed-up entertainer.
Other “little monsters” are noting that the singer — who owns a $23 million Malibu mansion — is in her prime.
In any case, MGM Park Theater will be her stage home for two years.
“It’s the land of Elvis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Elton John, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli,” Gaga said in a press release from MGM Resorts.
“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play Las Vegas. I am humbled to be a part of a historical lineup of performers, and to have the honor of creating a new show unlike anything Vegas has ever seen before.”
She promised that she’ll leave her heart on the stage every single night.
Others hope she’ll promise to get outta Dodge and perform around the world as well.
Honestly, I don’t understand gaga. Instead of extending her Joanne “WORLD TOUR” with other dates like in Brazil, Asia or Australia she goes back to America where she already did over 40 shows for her tour to do 50+ shows in Las Vegas?! I mean Gaga, u have fans outside the US too. pic.twitter.com/Wvrw6KA7eo

Why are you all pressed? Gaga is doing 50 shows over the course of TWO years. That’s one show every two weeks. She’ll have plenty of time to go out of Vegas and do other things you know

I’m not just saying this as a Lady Gaga mega fan, but Vegas really isn’t where you go when your career is over anymore. Lady Gaga had an amazing 2017, this was a choice not a gentle nudge to “retire.”

If the Las Vegas residency doesn’t stop Gaga from going on full album cycles and touring the world I really congratulate her on committing to work this hard. But if this deal means she’s just gonna stay there forever I’m just really disappointed.

Taylor Swift’s tour flopping and Gaga retiring to Vegas is absolute karma for both fanbases who came for Beyoncé. Now the beyhive can celebrate. pic.twitter.com/fjHA2Ku977

Me, defending Gaga: Vegas is rebranding… tons of current artists in their prime are doing residencies now.
Gaga: It’s the land of Elvis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Elton John, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli!!

It’s so cute when people say Gaga’s going to Vegas ‘cause her career‘s over. She is in the middle of her sold out tour, has just played the Super Bowl Halftime Show, had a successful album out, is nominated for 2 GRAMMY Awards, played Coachella, has a movie release next year… pic.twitter.com/UzreOMfqrT

y’all said vegas was where artists go to die when britney signed but she’s been thriving, making bank, and now we see Gaga following suit… we love original trendsetting pop stars! ???? pic.twitter.com/FcgsIyhRyW
