Teens organizing the upcoming March for Our Lives in Washington have gained some star power — and megabucks.
George and Amal Clooney said Tuesday they are sending $500,000 to help the survivors of the Parkland, Florida, shooting and their anti-gun rally March 24.
“Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School,” George Clooney said.
“Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating $500,000 to help pay for this groundbreaking event.”
He also said: “Our children’s lives depend on it.”
News reports noted that the Clooney money has gone to other causes, including $1 million last August to the Southern Poverty Law Center to combat hate groups.
