You’d think that a newspaper owned by Australian-born Rupert Murdoch would know if Matt Damon is planning to move his family Down Under.

But the media baron’s New York Post is being slammed for quoting a source that says “Matt’s telling friends and colleagues in Hollywood that he’s moving the family to Australia” because the activist actor disagrees with Trump’s policies.”

Damon has four children with his wife, Luciana Barroso. They’ve lived in recent years in Pacific Palisades.

This followed a Sydney newspaper report that Damon, 47, had bought a property in Byron Bay, New South Wales — next door to a home owned by Chris Hemsworth — with whom Damon recently appeared in “Thor: Ragnarok.”

But Gossip Cop and Boston.com quoted Damon’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, “who quickly and firmly shot down the Post’s report.”

“Matt has visited Australia several times recently, but he has not bought a house there nor is he moving there,” she said.

Of course, some people believe what they first read.
