A transient who allegedly smashed the window of a car with an actress’ 4-year-old son inside, causing the child to be struck by shattered glass, was charged Friday with felony vandalism and a trio of misdemeanors.

The boy, the son of Jaime King, was inside his mother’s Mercedes-Benz when Paul Francis Floyd allegedly went on a vehicle-smashing rampage about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of North Bedford Drive, near Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Beverly Hills police.

NEWPORT BEACH (CNS) – A convicted child molester whose 10-year prison sentence for sodomizing a 3-year-old relative in Santa Ana sparked local outrage and international headlines was re-sentenced Friday to 25 years to life behind bars.

Kevin Jonas Rojano-Nieto, 23, was re-sentenced on the orders of the state’s 4th District Court of Appeal.

WOODLAND HILLS (CNS) – A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car from Hollywood early Friday and leading officers on a chase to the San Fernando Valley.

Ethan Rutland, 28, was booked on suspicion of felony “unlawful taking or driving an emergency vehicle,” and was being held on $55,000 bail, LAPD Officer Drake Madison said. His hometown was not known.

NORWALK (CNS) – Authorities Friday sought the public’s help in locating a 39-year-old man who went missing this week in Norwalk.

Jesse Woodrow Eagleman was last seen about 10 p.m. Wednesday on foot in the area of Carmenita Road and Alondra Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A 13-year-old boy who spent about 12 hours lost in the sewer system after he fell into a pipe in Griffith Park had a chance Friday to thank the city employees, police officers and firefighters who were involved in his rescue, including the two sanitation workers who lifted him to safety.

“I’m so thankful for everybody who was involved in my rescue,” Jesse Hernandez said during a news conference outside City Hall East, surrounded by the dozens of men and women who helped rescue him, as well as Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Councilman David Ryu and Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Ralph Terrazas.

CULVER CITY (CNS) – A 25-year-old driver was killed Friday in a single-vehicle crash in Culver City in which the car ended up wrapped around a tree.

Carlos Gausman of Santa Monica was killed in a crash that occurred about 4:35 a.m. at Washington Boulevard and Sherbourne Drive, according to police and the coroner’s office.

SANTA ANA (CNS) – A 19-year-old Lake Forest man accused of setting fires at Mission Viejo High School and the Kaleidoscope shopping center was charged Friday with multiple felonies.

Jack Frye is charged with six counts of arson, two counts of attempted arson and one count of attempted second-degree burglary, all felonies, according to court records.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A four-vehicle collision Friday afternoon injured four people, two of them seriously, on a freeway transition road near Los Angeles International Airport.

The crash was reported just before 4 p.m. on the transition road from the eastbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway to the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway. At least one of the victims was trapped in the wreckage.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A woman is suing the Cheesecake Factory, alleging her gums began to bleed after she bit into a piece of glass while consuming a miso salmon entree in 2016 at the Beverly Hills location.

Brittany Green’s Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit alleges negligence, strict liability and implied warranty of merchantability.

SANTA ANA (CNS) – A 38-year-old convicted drunken driver made his initial court appearance Friday on murder and DUI charges stemming from a deadly collision on the Ortega (74) Highway in San Juan Capistrano.

Edward James Nani was charged with murder instead of manslaughter in the death last Saturday of 77-year-old Amparo Lopez of Murrieta because he pleaded guilty in April 2010 to driving drunk. Convicted drunk drivers who are involved in deadly collisions face the upgraded charge by law.

SANTA ANA (CNS) – A 45-year-old man, who had avoided arrest for more than a year and a half, made his first appearance in court Friday on charges of sexually assaulting seven girls in Garden Grove.

Salvador Dirceo Agaton was charged Aug. 29, 2016, with one count of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 or younger and four counts of lewd acts with a minor younger than 14, all felonies, as well as three misdemeanor counts of child annoyance, according to court records.

GLENDORA (CNS) – A firefighter was injured Friday while taking part in a controlled-burn operation in the Angeles National Forest near Glendora.

The unspecified injury was reported about 1:30 p.m. in the area of Glendora Ridge Motorway and Glendora Mountain Road, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

The couple have been married since August 2011 and have two children, son Shaya, 10, and daughter Rain, 11. Burke has two daughters from a previous marriage, Sierra, 16, and Neriah, 18.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck, actor Forest Whitaker and physician Siddhartha Mukherjee, who wrote a Pulitzer Prize-winning book about cancer, are among five recipients to receive honorary degrees at USC’s 135th commencement ceremony next month, the university announced Friday.

Beck has served as chief of the LAPD since 2009 but announced recently that he will be retiring in June.

ALHAMBRA (CNS) – A Duarte man who killed a neighbor, shot at another man and pointed a gun at several other people before leading Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on a chase in August 2016 was sentenced Friday to 91 years to life in prison.

Luis Santillan Valdes, 42, was convicted in January of one count each of first-degree murder, attempted murder and fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle while driving, as well as four counts of assault with a firearm.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Los Angeles County is suing its former lead attorney, whose wrongful termination lawsuit against the entity was dismissed earlier this year, for allegedly putting his interests ahead of those of his former employer.

The county’s suit against Mark Saladino alleges he publicly disclosed advice he gave the Board of Supervisors and violated his ethical obligations of loyalty and confidentiality to his former client.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A special education aide at Ulysses S. Grant High School in the San Fernando Valley was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography.

Grigor Agdayan, 42, of North Hollywood was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Herrera, who said the investigation was conducted by the LAPD’s Juvenile Division.

MALIBU (CNS) – An injured hiker who was stranded for four days in Malibu Creek State Park said Friday he was grateful to be alive.

Marcelo Santos, 30, was reported missing on Sunday, and although searchers found his backpack — which included his cellphone — he was not in the area.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Casey Kasem’s three oldest children are seeking dismissal of a petition filed by the radio legend’s widow, who wants a greater say in the management of her late husband’s estate.

In a motion filed March 29 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Kerri, Julie and Michael Kasem maintain that the 2003 amendment to the Casey Kasem Revocable Trust, created in February 1982, is the controlling instrument and not the 2011 trust put forth by their stepmother, Jean Kasem.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A fire damaged a restaurant in the West Los Angeles area Friday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to Big Tomy’s in the 11200 block of Pico Boulevard at 10:07 a.m. extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A judge denied a motion for a default judgment of more than $500,000 brought against an adult film actress by a flight attendant who alleges the defendant went berserk and assaulted her on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles in 2015.

However, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marc Gross said in his March 23 ruling that plaintiff Jill Buice can bring the motion again if she adequately addresses issues he raised in his decision.

SANTA CLARITA (CNS) – Authorities Friday identified a motorist who was killed in a head-on collision in the Santa Clarita area.

The crash occurred about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday on San Francisquito Canyon Road, just south of Dry Gulch Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
