The series finale of “Madam Secretary” will air at 10 p.m. Sunday on CBS with Grammy winner Peter Frampton, Emmy winners Cicely Tyson and Tyne Daly and four members of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion U.S. team guest starring.
Frampton performs during a McCord family celebration in his second appearance on the series. He also appeared on the series’ 100th episode, which aired Jan. 6.
Tyson portrays a woman born on Aug. 26, 1920, the day the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, giving women the right to vote, who looks on as President Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) begins a landmark political initiative with help from Ali Kreiger, Allie Long, Ashlyn Harris and Crystal Dunn of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion U.S. team.
This is Tyson’s second time portraying a centenarian on a CBS program. She received best lead actress in a drama and actress of the year Emmys in 1974 for her starring performance in “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.”
Tyson will turn 95 Dec. 19.
Daly portrays a senator from Ohio who opposes the initiative. She is the older sister of Tim Daly, who portrays the husband of Leoni’s character.
“NCIS: New Orleans” will air in “Madam Secretary’s” 10 p.m. Sunday time slot beginning Feb. 16, following “NCIS: Los Angeles” to give CBS a two-hour “NCIS” block.
