“The Invisible Man” is the number one film at the box office this weekend, opening with $29 million, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
The thriller from Universal and Blumhouse Productions, starring Elizabeth Moss, beat out last week’s top grosser, “Sonic The Hedgehog,” which took in $16 million for second place, Comscore reported.
“The Call of the Wild” was third with $13.2 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, followed by “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” — Funimation’s Japanese anime superhero film — with $6.3 million, and “Bad Boys For Life” with $4.3 million.
Rounding out the 10 top-grossing films of the weekend, as estimated be Comscore, are “Birds of Prey” ($4.1 million), “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” ($3.5 million), “1917” ($2.6 million), “Brahms: The Boy II ($2.6 million) and “Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island” ($2.3 million).
