“The Little Things,” the serial killer thriller starring Denzel Washington, scored the highest total at the box office this weekend with $4.8 million despite its simultaneous opening on the HBO Max streaming service, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
“The Croods: A New Age” continued its strong showing, taking in $1.84 million in its 10th weekend in theaters for second place, Comscore reported.
“Wonder Woman 1984,” which spent its first three weeks as the nation’s top-grossing film and is now in its sixth week of release, was third with $1.3 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada.
“The Marksman,” which was the top-grossing film the previous two weekends, was fourth with $1.25 million, followed by “Monster Hunter” with $740,000.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “News Of The World” ($540,000), “Promising Young Woman” ($260,000), “Fatale” ($220,000), “The War With Grandpa” ($147,050) and “Our Friend” ($135,660).
Indoor movie theaters in Southern California are closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving only limited outdoor screenings.
