“The Croods: A New Age” pulled off a rare feat by topping the North American box office in its 12th week of release, grossing $2.04 million this weekend, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
Tied for second place was “Judas and the Black Messiah,” which opened to $2 million, Comscore reported. The film about the killing of Black Panthers leader Fred Hampton is also available on the HBO Max streaming service.
“The Little Things” also grossed $2 million, followed by “Wonder Woman 1984” with $1.1 million. Those two films are also streaming on HBO Max.
“The Marksman,” also took in $1.1 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “Land” ($940,000), “Monster Hunter” ($650,000), “News of the World” ($385,000), “Promising Young Woman” ($183,000) and “The War With Grandpa” ($180,287).
Indoor movie theaters in Southern California are closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving only limited outdoor screenings.
