“Coming 2 America,” and “Saturday Night Live” were among the top winners at the ninth annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylist Guild Awards at the Beverly Hilton.
Each won took home three of the awards, which cover an array of film, television and theater categories, recognizing achievement in contemporary and period productions.
During the ceremony Saturday, lifetime achievement awards were presented to Michele Burke, an Oscar- and Emmy-winning makeup artist who worked on films including the “Mission: Impossible” and the “Austin Powers” movies, and Joy Zapata, an Emmy-winning hairstylist known for her work on “A Star is Born,” “Wonder Woman 1984” and “Star Trek: Nemesis.”
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jon Favreau, known for his work on “IronMan” and the “Avengers” franchise, received the Distinguished Artisan Award celebrating his extensive list of “creative, exotic, and memorable characters that live on in his plethora of films, television movies and series.”
