CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” will compete Friday evening for the top honor of best daytime drama series as the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards are presented in downtown Los Angeles.
The CBS soaps both have a leading 12 nominations for the awards, which will be presented over two nights. The top categories will be presented Friday night during a televised ceremony at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. The rest of the honors will be awarded Saturday at the same venue in the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards ceremony.
Also vying for the top prize of best daytime drama series are Popstar!’s “The Bay,” Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives,” ABC’s “General Hospital” and Amazon’s “Neighbours.”
Competing for best daytime talk series will be “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” “Tamron Hall,” “Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts” and “The View.”
Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro of “The View” are nominated for best daytime talk series host, along with Kelly Clarkson and Tamron Hall for their respective series, as well as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa for “Live with Kelly and Mark” and the hosts of “The Talk” — Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood.
Also notable among the nominees are a nod for screen legend Dick Van Dyke for best guest performer in a daytime drama series, for his guest spot on “Days of Our Lives.” Also competing in the category are Guy Pearce for “Neighbours,” Linden Ashby for “The Young and the Restless,” Ashley Jones for “The Bold and the Beautiful” and Alley Mills for “General Hospital.”
Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner of “Entertainment Tonight” will host the ceremony.
During the show, actress Melody Thomas Scott (“The Young and the Restless”), producer Edward J. Scott (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) and host/cookbook author Lidia Batianich (“Lidia Celebrates America”) will all receive Lifetime Achievement awards during the event.
