Hollywood’s awards season will kick into high gear Monday when nominations are announced for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards, with films such as “Conclave” and “Dune: Part Two” and the hit TV series “Shogun” expected to be among the top nominees.

Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut will lead the virtual nominations announcement, with some of the top categories being revealed during the “CBS Mornings” telecast.

The papal-selection drama “Conclave” is likely to be among the best drama film nominees, along with the visually stunning “Dune: Part Two.” “Gladiator II,” the sequel to an Oscar-winning film, is also a strong contender, with films such as “The Brutalist” and “Sing Sing” also hoping to snare nods.

Ralph Fiennes is a virtual lock for a best drama film actor nomination for “Conclave,” as is Adrien Brody for “The Brutalist” and Colman Domingo for “Sing Sing.” Also hoping to land on the list are Timothée Chalamet for “A Complete Unknown,” Daniel Craig for “Queer” and possibly Sebastian Stan for “The Apprentice.”

Angelina Jolie is likely to lead the list of best drama film actress nominees for “Maria,” and she’s likely to be joined by Nicole Kidman for “Babygirl,” Saoirse Ronan for “The Outrun” and Tilda Swinton for “The Room Next Door.”

For comedy/musical films, the recently released “Wicked” is a likely nominee, along with “Anora,” “Emelia Pérez” and “A Real Pain.” Other possible contenders include “Challengers,” “Saturday Night” and “The Substance.”

Look for Cynthia Erivo to score a best comedy/musical film actress nod for “Wicked,” along with Mikey Madison for “Anora,” Karla Sofía Gascón for “Emelia Pérez” and potentially Demi Moore for “The Substance.” Zendaya is also a possible nominee for “Challengers.”

Jesse Eisenberg is a solid contender for musical/comedy film actor honors for “A Real Pain,” as is Glen Powell for “Hit Man.” Sebastian Stan is also a possible contender in this category for “A Different Man.”

FX’s “Shogun,” which set a record this year by winning 18 Emmy Awards, is expected to lead the way in the Golden Globe TV drama categories. Netflix’s “Squid Game” and Apple TV+’s “Presumed Innocent” are also likely contenders in the category, with other spots possibly going to Netflix’s “The Diplomat” and possibly Prime Video’s “Fallout.”

HBO’s awards-season staple “Hacks” is a likely nominee for the best comedy series prize,” along with FX’s “The Bear,” ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” and possibly Disney+’s “Agatha All Along.”

The Golden Globe Awards will be presented Jan. 5 at the Beverly Hilton, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser.
