Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar will headline Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans, one week after winning five Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his biting diss track, “Not Like Us.”
Lamar also performed during the Feb. 13, 2022, Super Bowl halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, appearing with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige.
“Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar,” the NFL said in a statement issued in September when it announced Lamar would be the featured halftime performer. “Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”
Lamar will be joined in the show by SZA, who won the Grammy for best R&B song for “Saturn” last Sunday.
Lamar and SZA will also co-headline a 19-city North American tour April 19 through June 18, including concerts at SoFi Stadium on May 21, May 23 and May 24.
