“The Wild Robot,” the story of a robot who gets shipwrecked on a deserted island and befriends the local wildlife, dominated this weekend’s 52nd Annie Awards this weekend, recognizing the best in animation from the past year.

The DreamWorks Animation film earned nine wins in from 10 nominations.

On the small screen, “Arcane,” a Riot Games and Fortiche Production for Netflix, pulled in seven awards.

The awards were presented Saturday at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

The ceremony also included the presentation of several “Juried Awards.” The Winsor McCay Award for lifetime or career contributions to the medium were presented to three recipients — Aaron Blaise, a longtime Disney animator/director; the late Eunice Macauley, who was a National Film Board of Canada writer, director and producer; and Normand Roger, a National Film Board of Canada composer and sound designer.

The June Foray Award for “significant and benevolent impact” was presented to the nonprofit Women in Animation for its advocacy of gender equity in the industry. The Ub Iwerks Award for technical achievement will be presented to Alberto Menache, who “contributed founding technology to performance capture, virtual production and more.”
