PBS SoCal was the big winner at the 77th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, followed by Spanish language stations KMEX and KVEA.

PBS SoCal took home eight awards while KMEX and KVEA won seven each during the Saturday ceremony, hosted by Spectrum News 1 host-anchor Kelvin Washington at the Skirball Cultural Center.

KVEA swept all three categories for Regularly Scheduled Newscast.

ABC7 was recognized for live coverage of an unscheduled news event for its reports on December’s Franklin Fire while KTLA5’s Rose Parade programming was honored as the best live coverage of a special event.

Veteran CBS2 sportscaster Jim Hill was the recipient of the 2025 Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors Award in recognition of his five-decade broadcasting career in, which includes 45 years as the lead sports anchor at KCBS/KCAL. The award was presented by Lakers legend James Worthy.

Previous sports broadcasters to receive the Governors Award include Stu Lantz, Bob Miller, Chick Hearn and Vin Scully.

The honorees were selected from 111 nominees in 31 categories including live and breaking news coverage, crime and social issues and the arts.
