“Weapons” recaptured the top spot at the box office this weekend after losing the crown to a Netflix movie, grossing $10.2 million to lead all films in North America, according to industry estimates Sunday.
After spending its first two weeks atop the chart, the Warner Bors. horror film — which stars Julia Garner and Josh Brolin — slipped behind “KPop Demon Hunters” last weekend, when the streaming service released the popular animated musical to theaters for a special two-day engagement.
Second place this weekend went to a 50th anniversary re-release of “Jaws,” which grossed $8.1 million Friday through Sunday, Comscore reported.
Director Darren Aronofsky’s “Caught Stealing,” a crime thriller starring Austin Butler and Zoe Kravitz, opened in third place with $7.8 million.
“Freakier Friday” was fourth with $6.5 million Friday through Sunday in its fourth weekend in theaters, followed by “The Roses,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, which opened with $6.4 million.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “Fantastic Four: First Steps” ($4.8 million), “The Bad Guys 2” ($4.7 million), “Superman” ($2.5 million), “Nobody 2” ($1.83 million) and “The Naked Gun” ($1.8 million).
