Was it the first date from hell? Or will it turn into a love story remembered for decades?

It wasn’t clear Saturday what the answer will be, but at least the couple involved was spending a safe weekend after quite an ordeal.

The two young hikers on their first date became lost in the Angeles National Forest above Altadena and were rescued by a sheriff’s helicopter crew Friday.

The amorous duo was plucked from a cliff at Lowe Canyon, near Dawn Mine, about 2:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Realizing they were lost, the hikers, who had a map and cellphone, stopped searching for a way out and called the sheriff’s Altadena Station for help, officials said.

They were lucky to have gotten a cellphone signal, according to the sheriff’s department.
