Scott Lankford of Simi Valley was the men’s winner of the inaugural “Run to Remember — Los Angeles” half-marathon while Stephanie Mundt of Scottsdale, Arizona was the women’s winner.

Approximately 4,500 runners registered the half-marathon and 10K races beginning at The Grove honoring fallen law enforcement officers, firefighters and other first responders, organizers said.

The run Sunday was inspired by Boston’s “Run to Remember,” which began in 2005.

After years of sending Los Angeles Police Department teams to run in the Boston race, a group of Los Angeles officers partnered with the Boston Police Runners Club to establish “Run to Remember — Los Angeles,” organizers said.

The run served as a fundraiser for such organizations as Operation Progress Los Angeles, CHP 11-99 Foundation, Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, LAPD Foundation and teams raising funds for their own causes.

From The Grove, runners headed north to Beverly Boulevard, east to La Brea Avenue, north to Melrose Avenue, east to Western Avenue — including going into Paramount Studios — north to Hollywood Boulevard and east to New Hampshire Avenue, the race’s eastern-most point.

The runners then ran west on Hollywood Boulevard, south on Western Avenue, east on Melrose Avenue to Ardmore Avenue, then west on Melrose Avenue, south on La Brea Avenue to just north of Third Street, north on La Brea Avenue and west on Beverly Boulevard.

The run ended in Pan Pacific Park.

Lankford completed the 13.1-mile course in one hour, 11 minutes, 46 seconds. Brandly Calvo, whose hometown was not available, was second in 1:14:44. Mike Janusek of Los Angeles was third in 1:16:04.

Mundt was timed in 1:27:05. Amanda Lankford of Simi Valley was second among women in 1:29:57 and Jaclyn Newell third in 1:31:52.
