You probably won’t be allowed to see a highly anticipated upcoming exhibit at The Broad museum in downtown Los Angeles.
All 50,000 reserved tickets for The Broad‘s “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors” quickly sold out on Friday.
However, you may have a small chance to attend as the art museum will release a limited number of first-come, first-serve tickets at the box office during each day of the 10-week run.
The $30 same-day standby tickets will be available once the installation opens on Oct. 21, with varied availability, through Jan. 1, the museum said.
Reserved $25 tickets for the celebrated Japanese artist’s exhibition went on sale at noon Friday. The Broad is to be the only museum in California to host the exhibition as it continues its six-venue North American tour.
The Broad features Kusama’s installation “Infinity Mirrored Room – The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away” as part of its permanent collection. It is the single most popular attraction at the museum, made even more so by its use in an Adele music video.
The work will remain on view to free general admission ticket holders until Sept. 30, when it will transfer to the special Kusama exhibition. After the run, it will once again be accessible to visitors.
The exhibition features six “Infinity” mirror rooms — immersive, kaleidoscopic environments by the 88-year-old Japanese artist. The first institutional survey of its kind, the exhibition also will include paintings, sculptures and works on paper.
