More than 8,000 people from 120 countries were sworn in Thursday as U.S. citizens in downtown Los Angeles — with actress Minnie Driver among them.
The London native, who was nominated for a supporting-actress Oscar for “Good Will Hunting,” shared photos on Twitter showing her after the naturalization ceremony, and said she will be celebrating in British-American style.
“I’m having a `We The People’ tea party,” she wrote. “The tea will be in a pot, not thrown in the harbor.”
Driver, 47, has also appeared in films such as “Grosse Pointe Blank,” “Sleepers” and “Hard Rain.” She had a recurring role in “Will & Grace” and stars as the exuberant mother of a teen with cerebral palsy in the ABC comedy series “Speechless.”
