The driver of a car was killed and two passengers were hurt after the vehicle turned in front of an SUV in a Lancaster intersection, authorities said Friday.
The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. Thursday at North Seventh Street East and East Avenue, Sgt. Layne Arnold of the sheriff’s Lancaster Station said.
A 2007 Nissan Armada was westbound on Avenue I approaching Seventh Street when a 2000 Ford Taurus turned in front of the SUV hitting the driver’s side, Arnold said.
The Taurus driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the sergeant said. A rear passenger suffered significant trauma and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Another passenger was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Armada was the sole occupant of that vehicle, Arnold said. That driver complained of pain.
The crash remained under investigation, he said. Whether either driver was impaired was yet to be determined.
