Los Angeles County officials declared Wednesday a day of mourning to honor President George H. W. Bush, during which all “non-emergency or non-essential” county offices and agencies will be closed.

County courthouses, hospitals and clinics will remain open, however, and public works recovery efforts for the Woolsey Fire burn area will continue.

The disaster recovery centers set up in Malibu and Agoura Hills after the fire will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and property owners will also be able to request engineering advice and seek other recovery-related services by calling (800) 675-4357 (HELP). More information can be found at www.lacounty.gov/woolseyfire-disaster-recovery-centers/.

Other work deemed critical by county department heads, such as urgent inspections and communicable disease investigations, will also be ongoing Wednesday.

Individual departments will post additional opening and closing information on their websites.

Federal offices will be closed following President Donald Trump’s declaration of a National Day of Mourning. Federal courthouses and stock market exchanges will reopen Thursday.

Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered that Capitol flags be flown at half-staff.
