Deputies used tear gas and a K-9 Saturday morning to end a nine-hour standoff with an armed man barricaded inside his home in Norwalk.
The man ran from deputies when they tried to pull him over for a traffic stop at 6 p.m. Friday and ran into his home in the 11800 block of Chesterton Street, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A team from the sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and crisis negotiators were sent to the home around 8 p.m. to try and bring the standoff to a peaceful conclusion, Crowder said.
There was no report of anyone injured in the incident.
Chesterton Street has reopened and people who were evacuated from their homes during the standoff were allowed to return.
