Six people escaped from a burning home in San Pedro Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded at 2:50 a.m. to the 500 block of West First Street and located a one-story guest house at the rear of the property with heavy fire showing, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A total of 34 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 16 minutes, he said.

The two adults and four children were able to escape before firefighters arrived but found themselves displaced Tuesday morning, Humphrey said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
