A six-foot sinkhole prompted closure of a stretch of Civic Center Way near Pepperdine University in Malibu Friday.
The sinkhole was reported about 4:40 p.m. on Civic Center Way near Vista Pacifica, according to information from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu/Lost Hills Station.
Civic Center Way between Winter Canyon Road and Webb Way was shut to traffic as crews from the county’s Department of Public Works responded to the scene. The street remained closed as of 8:30 p.m., said Sgt. James Braden of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu/Lost Hills Station.
The street is expected it to stay closed for at least a few more hours as crews use a tractor to “dig out” the sinkhole, Braden said.
No injuries were reported, and no vehicles were stuck in the sinkhole, according to Braden.
