One person was killed and two were critically injured Saturday in a rollover crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Gorman, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 6:07 p.m. on the southbound Golden State Freeway just north of state Route 138, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses initially told the CHP there was an overturned SUV or passenger vehicle in the brush area of the freeway.

Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead, fire officials said. Two others were critically injured and airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, officials said.
